Rev. Eisenlord was born in Tucson, Arizona in 1950 and was raised in a small town in Michigan. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University in 1972, Rev. Eisenlord attended seminary at Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago where he received his Masters of Divinity Degree in 1976 and was ordained as a Lutheran minister in the Lutheran Church in America. Rev. Eisenlord’s first church was a 300 member congregation in Houston Texas, where he eventually came out as an openly gay man.
Rev. Eisenlord has been active on a variety of Board of Directors of LGBT organizations, including Hollywood Remembers, Lutherans Concerned and the Pasadena Pride Center. He has spoken before the Pasadena Chapter of the ACLU as well as the Pasadena Unified School District on gay bullying and harassment and is currently chair of the Faith and Religion subcommittee of the Youth Advocacy Committee of Southern California. Rev. Eisenlord has also appeared on Public Cable Television to discuss gay teen suicides. He now serves as the openly gay Pastor of Good Shepherd Church Pasadena which he established, a congregation with an active outreach to the LGBT community. Rev. Eisenlord founded the San Gabriel Valley Gay and Lesbian Center which will serve the entire San Gabriel Valley with services and programs for the LGBT community. Rev. Eisenlord has also presented a special seminar at this year’s Models of Pride event in October at USC on “Why God Doesn’t Hate You” for LGBT youth.
Rev. Eisenlord currently is single and resides in Pasadena.
